An Old Idea Re-Visited

First, thank you to all the people putting work into making new subraces/areas/bosses/drops, they're really cool and add a great deal of variety to the server. I've been having a great time making new builds or old builds with new subraces and then using those builds to explore the new content that has been added. Your work is greatly appreciated and has breathed new life into the Badlands.

I was reading through the old posts (the post archive addition is GREAT btw, THANK YOU to whoever set that up) and came across one about our Mega Spawn problem. In the replies I came across this:

Making a "snow pipe" type quest to the castle will work. For now, if your level 41 you can bind there.

I would love to see a "Snow Pipe" item for the Mad Clerics Tower added, and wanted to keep this idea from fading from peoples memories with all of the hard work that they've been doing with the new content.

That's all. Thanks again, the new stuff is great.

I was sick of the other way of searching through the archives, that little down arrow box sucked. I changed the archives sidebar for obvious reasons. Glad you like it!

Anything that could be done to keep the high levels chars out of "polar bear" alley would be great. :)

It's not so much the polar bears (they only spawn 3 maximum) that causes problems... it's the army of ants that pops up on the North Face. If you run a 50+ up there, you spawn at least 5. With a dev-critter, it's no big deal to wade through those, but depending on your build, you could literally spend a half-hour to go from Northbound to the Lonely Slopes (if you're headed that way).
I *think* there's a bindstone in the Mad Cleric's Tower (someone please confirm this), but I find it much more helpful to be bound to the UD.
The port stone for the Crystal City is VERY helpful btw, so a Mad Cleric's port stone would prove useful for legendary toons.
My suggestion is to tie such a port stone to a boss drop... like Bruce's Brass Balls for example.

On a side note... I really enjoyed Q's explanation of the Anchiant Caverns and what the trogs are searching for. I think other BL bosses should have associated stories if anyone would be so kind:
1. Why is Sheelo insane?
2. Who is the Mad Cleric?
3. Why do the drow hide in the stronghold (couldn't they overrun the UD?)
4. Who does the Royal Assassin work for?
5. Why don't the people of Newport clean out the damn vampires in their sewers?!

There is a bindstone inside Castle Sheelo. I think I set to level 41.

The Mad Cleric was one of my toons. Long ago I had thought that each DM should have his own Private Quarters to call home. My favorite toon was Glub, a Dwarven Cleric and I was going to live in Castle Sheelo. Robbe was going to get Castlevania (he picked that name). The Beta room worked out better actually and I removed the private areas.

No reason why a new story can't be made though. One with a bit more zing.

If the next module update ever gets finished, a new outpost has been added into Castle Sheelo as well as Castlevania. Uhm, yes, this means new bosses and new boss drops. Did you really think we would overlook that?

As far as the other questions go, I have allways had my suspesions, most of which aren't story material.

The Drow own Under Dark. It's for the Good players to drive the evil drow back into submission and, a place for evil players to call home and help defend the drow.

Sheelo: The Sheelo Mountain Range; The Dragon Sheelo (the favored pet of The Mad Cleric); Sheelo the Castle; The Mad Cleric (name??? Sheelo or ????)

The good people of NewPort are rich cowards, plain and simple. It's beneath them to get dirty doing menial labor. We should refuse to keep the Vamps at bay until Newport agrees to pay us more.

Who does the Royal Assassin work for?
I could tell you, but then I'ld have to kill you!

Its almost time for RPG to decide on a historical/theme style logic for alot of these issues.
And the best stuff ALWAYS comes from the minds of players.
I always thought Rana ellow infected Sheelo with draconic gonorrhea ....

The royal assassin works for Mephistephelos ( as do the vampires) and they are the permeating evil.
Alot of the bad stuff has the Dark prince flavour to it.
The drow live in a delicate balance with illithid , beholder and duergar.
This created the Underdark trading metropolis.
In no way does this represent the stated Badlands folklore ...but its just my two cents worth...
Lets see what we can come up with.

Well, if you wouldn't have given it to her in the first place, none of this would have happened.
